The digital world offers convenience and speed – we shop, communicate and work with just a few taps. But it is also an ideal medium for scammers who target gullible consumers. Online security starts with everyday habits. Use strong, different passwords, don't share information with strangers, and regularly check your account settings.

1. Be careful when providing your real name in virtual space, as this information can be accessed by any Internet user.

2. Be careful when using electronic services that require your bank details. Before making financial transactions online, make sure that the website you are going to use is safe and reliable.

3.  Protect not only your identity or bank details, but also one of the most important elements of your virtual space – your password. It is advisable to change it regularly and when creating a new one, use different symbols and complex combinations that only you would know.

4. We can receive a lot of spam via email. Unwanted advertising messages not only fill up your personal email space, but they can also contain viruses and other electronic programs that can paralyze your computer. It is recommended not to open attached files or links in emails you receive from strangers.

5. Never share your online account login details (especially your password) if you receive an unexpected email asking for them. This trick is usually used by impostors who, under the guise of popular service websites and social networks, claim that your account problems require such information. This is another easy way to invade your personal electronic space.

6. Use effective antivirus programs to protect your computer from many types of cybercriminals. Currently, many companies offer free antivirus programs that can be found and downloaded online (e.g. Avast, AVG, Comodo).

7. Make sure that the address of the website where you want to register or log in is the one you usually use, for example, gmail.com, not gnail.com. Even a minimal change in the name of the website address may mean that you are being directed to a fictitious website created by Internet fraudsters and an attempt is made to obtain your personal login details.

8. Pay attention to how your children use the Internet and control these processes. Tell your children about the threats posed by the Internet. Although measures are constantly being developed for a safe and friendly Internet, children still remain the most vulnerable audience in this regard.

9. Monitor your own online activities and opinions: The information you publish remains in cyberspace, so be careful and correct.

10. If you are brave and like to communicate with strangers online, be extremely careful when deciding to meet them, inform at least one trusted person from your circle of friends or relatives about your planned meeting.
