Oct 21, 1963, Trancas, Argentina

This case was investigated by Oscar Galindez and he calls it “one of the most exceptional occurrences in the whole history of the UFO phenomenon.”
It was around 9:30pm when Senora Yolie Moreno, her sister Yolanda, their children and parents were in their bedrooms preparing for bed when their maid, Dora, interrupted and told Yolie and Yolanda fearfully that strange lights were appearing outside by the Belgrano railway line about 450 feet from their home. At first, they didn’t see anything, but then the lights appeared and they could see two very bright lights landed on the ground, and between them were about 40 figures moving back and forth. Three other objects were nearby. The sisters wondered if there was some sort of train derailment. They went back inside, got some warm clothes, and went back outside to investigate. Their sister, Argentina woke up and looked outside and screamed as she saw that there were in fact, several strange objects, disc-shaped, with one very close to the house. Her scream woke up the rest of the people in the house. Dora, Yolie and Yolanda could now see the disc, which had six windows. The object began rotate. At the same time, it was surrounded by a strange mist.
Suddenly, the disc emitted a powerful flame, which violently hurled their bodies about 6 feet down to the ground. Dora, who was closest, suffered 1st and 2nd degree burns. Yolie and Yolanda felt only a blast of heat but were not burned.
All the other objects lit up, (a total of 6), lighting up the entire property. The first and closest disc rotated so fast, it became a blue, surrounded by an orange mist. At the same time, it emitted a tube of light 10 feet wide which began to shine all over the house as though conducting a thorough search. They seemed to focus on the tractor shed. The next day they found that the oil marks on the tractor were gone as if washed away. The beams of light would stretch slowly outward, like feelers. Clearly not normal beams of light!
Curious, at one point, Yolanda stuck her arm into the beam of light. She felt a powerful sensation of heat. The beam seemed to penetrate right through her arm. After doing this, she became very afraid and she and the others retreated to the house. The others I the house were praying as the beams targeted various portions of the house. At the beginning of the incident, the temperature in the house had been about 60 degrees Fahrenheit. But now, the temperature quickly rose to over 100 degrees.
The dogs, normally very protective, never barked and seemed almost dazed. The same was true with the chickens in the henhouse.
They checked on the young children, who were sleeping through the whole incident, but were now sweating so profusely that their bedclothes were drenched with perspiration. The inside of the house was lit up bright as daylight. It seemed as though the light beams themselves came right through the walls. The people in the house ran around trying to avoid the beams.
After 40 minutes, the objects finally left. The family went outside to investigate and saw that the mist from the object still hung thickly in the air, with a smell like sulfur. Below where the object hovered, they found a circle of ground covered with a three-foot-high pile of little white spheres. Some of the same were also found near the railway where the other objects had been. They were very delicate and crumbled under pressure. Some of them were collected and analyzed by Walter Gonzalo at the Institute of Chemical Engineering at the University of Tucuman and showed to be composed of calcium carbonate and potassium carbonate.
More landing traces were found. A grove of carob trees was withered. And the area where the object had hovered proved difficult to grow vegetation.
Later, investigators found other witnesses. Neighbor Francisco Tropiano explains: "I didn't see the objects but I did observe an orange glow that persisted for thirty minutes behind the Medina mountain range."
Yolie Moreno, whose husband was in the Air Force, was contacted by the Argentine Navy and told to fill out a questionnaire about the encounter, which she learned would be sent to the Pentagon in the United States.
Reportedly, this was one of the cases that inspired Steven Spielberg’s movie Close Encounters of the third kind.
